Are we living on our own?

 

There was a day, thousands of years ago in the Garden of Eden, when man decided to declare his independence over his relationship with God.

In essence, this is what happened as Adam and Eve partook of the fruit forbidden by God.

Man chose to seek after a level of living all his own. Didn't Satan tell him, if you eat of this tree surely you shall not die? He sold him the lie of being all knowing as God. What he didn't measure out was the fact that his relationship with God would change forever.

Thanks be to God that He has fixed our broken relationships with Him. At such an awesome cost to Himself, He has reconciled us to a place of right standing in Him for the choosing. Isn't He good?

There may be some readers today who are questioning God's goodness. You have suffered such heart-wrenching losses in some form or the other. Maybe while you didn't directly blame God for some ill-fated circumstance that has come your way, you may have struggles with thoughts of why He did not seem to help with the prevention of it.

We often try to make sense of this world we live in based on a very small and unfinished picture of reality. It's sort of like looking at a grand celebration through a tiny knothole of pain, hurt, self-centeredness, and power while we tend to believe that we are on our own and insignificant. Powerful deception lies in this practice. Pain and death are seen by us as ultimate evils and God often seen as untrustworthy. It's like we step aside from His precepts and establish our own by laws. Then, judge Him thereby and find Him guilty.

This talk sounds harsh, but who hasn't found themselves in this position. It's like we don't really comprehend His goodness. It's like we don't really trust Him completely.
We want to. We know we should. Yet, we lean to our own independence in life and short change our relationship with Him. When we begin to think within that we can handle it on our own, you don't have to bother about me Lord, we're on shakey ground.

What should we do? We should fall in love with our Creator. We should make our relationship in Him front and center in our lives. It's not even about having our priorities straight, as we've often mentioned. He's more than a “place” in our lives. He is our life. We have no life without Him. He's not something we go and do through a ritual of ceremonies and services. He's something called LOVE that inhabits us. He's in us folks. Let Him lead and direct us. Trust Him with our pain. If we are leaning on Him, He has our best interest at heart. Let Him handle it.

The Father knows pain and suffering. When we need a sympathizer, no one is better qualified than He. He endured all of this for you and for me and it was harsh. Yet, He said It was worth it all. We must run to Him. We must trust Him anyway. It is finished. We must rest in Him.
