Temporary or Eternal?

Temporary or Eternal?
-
One of our most serious challenges as Believers in this life is the task we have of keeping the temporal notions of this earth walk in their proper place.
-
Our little wagon of life is forever getting a load of things we didn’t order. Then the weight of the wagon is often accommodated by an “uphill pull.”
Now, all of a sudden, “Woe is me.” If we’re not careful, we’ll be fully baited for a “whine-fest” that no one is eager to hear. We must pull ourselves together, go to God’s Word, and see what He says to us in such times as these.
-
When it comes right down to it, we must realize that our circumstances are only temporary, but our character lasts forever. Which is more important? Do we consistently look for temporary relief and take the shortest possible path regardless of who or what may be in our way? Or, do we choose to look to God’s Word allowing Him to build within us that character He has purposed for each of us to have?
-
Jesus told us “In this world, ye shall have tribulation, but be of good cheer. I have overcome the world.” Are we living as “overcomers” today? He already overcame and His Gift of Life is within each of us if we know Him.
-
He has fought our battles for us and thanks be to Him, won the war. When the challenges of our earth walk tempt us with overwhelming anxiety, we must remember what He has done for us. We’re not captive to this world and its issues that confront us. We’re citizens of a Heavenly Kingdom. We’re victors and conquerors, triumphing through the Blood of Jesus Christ.
As we meditate along these lines of thought this week, I wish to share with you a couple of portions of Scripture from a different version of the Bible this week.

Scripture References: The Living Bible (paraphrased)
-
II Corinthians 4:16-18 “That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our inner strength in the Lord is growing every day. These troubles and sufferings of ours are, after all, quite small and won’t last very long. Yet this short time of distress will result in God’s richest blessing upon us forever and ever! So we do not look at what we can see right now, the troubles all around us, but we look forward to the joys in heaven which we have not yet seen. The troubles will soon be over, but the joys to come will last forever.”
-
Romans 8:26-28 “And in the same way - by our faith the Holy Spirit helps us with our daily problems and in our praying. For we don’t even know what we should pray for, nor how to pray as we should; but the Holy Spirit prays for us with such feeling that it cannot be expressed in words. And the Father who knows all hearts knows, of course, what the Spirit is saying as he pleads for us in harmony with God’s own will. And we know that all that happens to us is working for our good if we love God and are fitting into his plans.”

Have a super blessed week,
Julie
