Standing in the “Evil Day”

Standing in the “Evil Day”

The enemy of our souls runs rampant in this world, seeking whom he may devour. This is his mission, to wreak as much havoc and damnation as he possibly can and thwart the plan and purpose of our Most High God.

When an individual, (say a “politician”), will sell his soul for some tangible item, we must know that we are living in an “evil day.” Though this is no new practice, something as old as creation itself, we still have our concerns for the era in which we find ourselves.

Until our Lord comes and establishes His Kingdom on earth, we can expect to deal with evils. But, thanks be to God, we have been well equipped for the task.

My thoughts for this post come from Scripture in the Book of Ephesians.

“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.”

The Christian has blessed hope and provision in this life. As we go on to read this passage, we find that we are not fighting a physical battle against human beings. Our challenge is against principalities, powers, rulers of darkness, and spiritual wickedness in high places.

We must stand in the finished work of Jesus Christ our Lord. We stand clad in this armour spoken of in prayer and supplication, persevering and watching. Even when we’ve been challenged in ways we seem too weak to combat, He’s there to remind us that we win.

The only guarantee to a quality of living is knowing how to rest in these Truths. The labor of our Christian life is to enter into the rest of His finished work. As we learn just who our enemy is and where our strength lies, we can do just this.

I pray we’ll truly put on His armour and stand in all of His Truth to His honor and glory!

He is worthy! May we meditate upon these Scriptures in the days ahead.

Ephesians 6:10-18

“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.

Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness.

And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;”

Hebrews 4:9-11

“There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.

For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.

Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.”

Have a blessed week,

Julie
