A Seeker of Wisdom?

This article was written Sunday, December 7th, 2008.

This week I read an interesting statement. "God isn't hiding His wisdom from us; He's hiding wisdom for us." I thought, how well said.

How many times do we go to Him with "God give me wisdom? I just don't know what to do with this matter." Or maybe, "I just can't seem to get my thinking processes to form with any clarity on something."

Then if we aren't careful, we'll begin to look about us for life's circumstances to show up with our needed answers. We might think the next turn of events will take us to the illuminating moment of our posing issue. Yet though we walk and talk with Him in the affairs of day-to-day living, there remains that margin of possible error in the life of any believer who fails to spend time in His Word.

If we replace the foundational work that God's Word has in our lives with any other activity in the Christian walk, we're destined for trouble. We must never leave the authority of His written Word. This is His Wisdom to us.

A journey through the Book of Proverbs will establish a greater understanding of God's wisdom. Who's it for? How do we pursue it? Where is it found?
He also gave us instruction through James in the New Testament to "ask of God with nothing wavering." Then wisdom would be granted. In such a world as we live today, we might question just how many really are looking to find this Wisdom.

It's comforting to know that most folks who will actually read this blog site, are seekers of this great Wisdom. He told us if we would seek Him and seek Him early, that He would be found.

What an awesome thought! The great God and Creator of the universe want you and me to seek Him. He wants to give us the hidden treasures of His great, infinite wisdom. Such a thought in itself is a tremendous thing to process mentally.

May our prayer each day include a desire to walk in greater measures of His wisdom. The more enlightened we can become, the greater the fruitful results for His kingdom. And when all is said and done, isn't this why we live, move, and have our being anyway?

What answers are we looking for today? If we seek, we shall find.

Scripture References:

Proverbs 2:7 "He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: He is a buckler to them that walk uprightly."

James 1:5-7 "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
For let not that man think that he shall receive anything of the Lord."

Proverbs 8:17 "I love them that love me, and those that seek me early shall find me."

Have a blessed week,
Julie
